Congresswoman Ann Wagner has been appointed as the Chair of the newly established Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) Subcommittee within the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. The announcement was made by Rick Crawford, the committee's chair.

In her statement, Congresswoman Wagner expressed gratitude to Chairman Crawford for entrusting her with this responsibility. She emphasized the significance of open-source intelligence, stating that it is "essential for a wide audience of policymakers, decisionmakers, and other consumers who gain situational awareness without having to rely on classified or restricted sources." She highlighted the increasing collaboration among adversaries and their growing threat to national security.

Chairman Rick Crawford commented on the appointment, acknowledging OSINT as a "growing and complex area" for the Intelligence Community. He expressed confidence in Representative Wagner's experience as both a foreign diplomat and congressional leader, believing she will effectively serve both the committee and American citizens.

Congresswoman Wagner further stressed the importance of national security in her role. She stated that she looks forward to enhancing focus on open-source intelligence to advance policy, governance, resources, and training. Her aim is to ensure that OSINT possesses the necessary capabilities to protect national interests.
