Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) played a significant role in advocating for the inclusion of measures supporting victims of sexual assault and child sexual abuse in the recent Appropriations legislation passed by the House.

Wagner expressed her satisfaction with the legislation, stating, “Today, the House passed Appropriations legislation that keeps our government open and advances several of my priorities, including important funding for law enforcement and victims of child sexual abuse and sexual assault."

The Congresswoman highlighted specific initiatives she championed within the legislation, including funding for programs such as the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Forces, the Debbie Smith Rape Kit Backlog program, and the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative. Wagner emphasized the importance of these programs in ensuring that survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation receive the justice they deserve.

Furthermore, Wagner underscored the significance of prioritizing funding for the Victims of Child Abuse Act to support Children’s Advocacy Centers in providing essential resources for victims of abuse during vulnerable times in their lives.

Looking ahead, Wagner affirmed her commitment to continuing efforts in Congress to secure targeted and sufficient funding for law enforcement and victim services providers. She stated, “In Congress, I will continue working to provide targeted, sufficient, and necessary funding for our law enforcement and victim services providers."
