Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) Subcommittee Chair Ann Wagner convened a roundtable in Washington, D.C., where industry leaders shared insights on collaboration between private sector companies and the Intelligence Community (IC) through the use of OSINT. The discussion featured representatives from WireScreen, Recorded Future, the Grist Mill Exchange, and Reality Defender, aiming to demonstrate the capabilities of these companies to subcommittee members.
The roundtable was part of a series of initiatives by the newly formed subcommittee to explore how the IC could effectively use Commercially Available Information to develop open-source intelligence. Chair Wagner emphasized the evolving nature of OSINT and the importance of standardizing contract structures to fulfill mission requirements. "OSINT is changing the way intelligence is being gathered and analyzed, unlocking new opportunities for the IC," she stated. "Open-source Intelligence is vitally important to the intelligence gathering process, and we must understand what is and is not working when doing business with the IC."
WireScreen highlighted its global intelligence platform, focusing on China and global supply chains, and its role in helping the IC counter Chinese Communist Party influence. Recorded Future discussed its threat intelligence platform, which combines AI with a vast collection of threat data to provide comprehensive coverage of adversaries, infrastructure, and targets.
Grist Mill Exchange presented its commercial data marketplace, stressing how the IC could benefit from the rapid innovation in the private sector by utilizing commercial data solutions. This would allow the IC to enhance its OSINT missions and derive insights for strategic advantage.
Reality Defender showcased its AI detection platform, supporting companies and governments in identifying AI-generated content. These discussions underscored the potential for the IC to leverage industry advancements in technology and data handling to bolster national security efforts.
