Ann Wagner, U.S. Congresswoman representing Missouri’s 2nd district since 2013, recently addressed both the ongoing government shutdown and the swearing-in of Catherine Hanaway as Missouri's Attorney General in a series of social media posts.

On October 20, 2025, Wagner stated her position on the government funding impasse, writing: "I voted for a clean spending bill to fund our government, pay our troops, and ensure essential services keep running. I am shocked that the far left is holding the government hostage for their extreme liberal policies. This reckless government shutdown is hurting our nation,".

Later that day, Wagner commented on Catherine Hanaway's appointment as Attorney General of Missouri: "What a joyous and historic day for our great state of Missouri, the Hanaway family, and all the citizens of our great state who will be well and faithfully served by Attorney General Catherine Hanaway. I have had the privilege of knowing Catherine for over 30 years and I was".

On October 21, Wagner shared her experience speaking with local media at Hanaway’s swearing-in ceremony: "Great speaking with Fox 2, KMOV, Spectrum, Missourinet, and others at my friend Catherine’s Hanaway’s swearing in for Attorney General. We covered the swearing in, the reckless government shutdown, and more."

Wagner has represented Missouri’s 2nd District since succeeding Todd Akin in 2013. She was born in St. Louis in 1962 and currently resides in Ballwin. Wagner graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984.
